10) How do you make a scented candles?
As you are melting your candle wax to make your scented candles,
you’ll want to read the instructions on your candle fragrance
as each brand will have slightly different instructions and recommended
amounts to add to the candle wax. Most will indicate that you should
use about one ounce of fragrance oil to one pound of candle wax
for very fragrant candles. You can adjust the amount of fragrance
oil added according to the amount of scent you want your candles
to have; use less for just a hint of scent, and use more for very
fragrant smelling candles.
You’ll want to melt your candle wax to about 170 degrees,
and keep it from going above 180 degrees as that is to hot. Stir
the wax constantly to keep it melting evenly and reduce the amount
of air bubbles. When your wax has been melted and is at the desired
temperature of 170 degrees, you can pour in the fragrance oil of
your choice and mix thoroughly so the fragrance will be evenly distributed
throughout the candles.
Pour the scented candle wax into the container or candle mold,
insert the wick and allow the candle to harden. When you burn it,
you’ll smell the scent that you used!
